Charlotte is beautiful and vulnerable in this short but tense scene. Looking lovely in satin pajamas, Charlotte goes to bed. A creepy villains sneaks in and watches her sleep. He straddles her and, when she wakes up, he clasps the chloroform cloth over her face. With lots of struggling and eye-rolling, Charlotte passes out. He picks her up in his arms and carries her away.
